DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z October 18, 2005

Lower/Middle Mississippi Valley/Southeast/Tennessee Valley:
Their are numerous agricultural burns across the specified region.
Some of these fires are producing moderate dense smoke, but most are
only giving off thin smoke plumes.  Fire activity has been very busy
across this area over the last week.

Northern California:
A fire in Placer county just on the northern edge of Lake Tahoe is
producing a moderate dense smoke plume that is moving north northwest
across Sierra, Lassen and Plumas counties.  A dense smoke plume from
a fire on the border of Mariposa and Tuolumne counties is moving north
northwest across central Amador, Calaveras and El Dorado counties.

Idaho:
Numerous fires are burning across central Idaho.  One of these fires
in Idaho county is producing a thin plume that stretches east northeast
across the border of Clearwater county.

Oregon:
A fire in Grant county is producing a thin smoke plume moving northeast
across the county.
