THROUGH 1630Z October 25, 2005

South Dakota:
A small patch of thin smoke was seen drifting to the south-southeast
over northeast Colorado. It is believed this is remnant smoke from a
fire in the Black Hills National Forest last evening.

Washington:
A small area of smoke was over east central Washington, just west of
Spokane. This area was drifting to the north.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
