DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2245Z January 28, 2006

SMOKE:
Florida:
A line of dense smoke from a fire SW of Wilma in the Appalachicola Nat'l
Forest in SW Liberty county is mixed with banded low level cumulus. The
plume extends NW 162km to near Danville, AL in S Dale county.  The plume
at its widest is 46km wide and covers all of Calhoun and most of Jackson
counties and portions of E Washington and Holmes counties.

DUST and SAND:
Texas:
Strong westerly winds is leading to a plume of dust and sand across the
high plains of Texas.  The source region is from the arid counties of
Gaines/Dawson/Howard/Martin/AndrewsT. The plume is very thin except for a
moderately dense area around S Mitchell to N Runnels county.  However, the
plume extends as far NE as Young county, E as Comanche and S as Runnels.
