THROUGH 0015Z February 12, 2006

Oregon:
A fire in northern Douglas County has resulted in a smoke plume that
has veered from north to east over time. Remnant smoke from a blaze in
nearby Coos County has moved east into Douglas County. A narrow plume
was detected moving north from a fire in Lincoln County.

Arizona:
Fires in Lapaz and Gila counties are generating smoke plumes that are
moving southwest.

Colorado:
A narrow plume extends to near the CO-OK-KS border from a blaze in
Bent County.

Northern Baja:
Two fires have resulted in a moderately dense area of smoke that extended
into the Pacific.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
