DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0115Z APRIL 07, 2006.

Southern Plains/Lower Mississippi Valley:
A large area of dust stretches from northeast New Mexico into northern
and central Texas.   The area of dust is moving southeast.

Missouri:
A small fire in Camden County is producing a thin cloud of smoke moving
northeast into Miller, Maries, Pulaski, and Osage Counties.

Arkansas:
A rather large fire on the border of Saline and Garland Counties is
producing a moderately dense smoke plume moving northeast into Perry
and Faulkner Counties.

Texas:
Numerous fires are burning in the southern portion of Texas with smaller
fires producing thin smoke plumes in Frio and Kerr Counties. Larger
fires are burning in Uvalde and Medina Counties producing very dense
smoke plumes moving east to south easterly in direction.

Florida:
A small fire in Palm Beach County is producing a thin, yet lengthy smoke
plume towards the northwest over Lake Okeechobee.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
