THROUGH 1500Z APRIL 24, 2006.

Baja California-Mexico/Arizona:
A fire burning at least since yesterday near the Colorado River in
Baja California, Mexico just northwest of the Gulf of California, is
producing a batch of smoke which is moving generally eastward parallel
to the US-Mexican border near southwestern Arizona.

Yucatan/Gulf of Mexico:
Morning visible imagery shows an area of haze across a portion of the
Bay of Campeche extending northward into the west central Gulf of Mexico
which possibly contains some remnant smoke from recent fires burning
across Mexico and Central America.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
