DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1530Z July 13, 2006

US Southwest:

The large fire north of Palm Springs CA has produced a plume of decreasing
smoke that extends northeast across Las Vegas NV then over extreme
southern Utah and northern Arizona across the Grand Canyon region to
just over the four corners area.

The other California fire east of San Jose also has a decreasing area
of smoke that extended from over Monteray Bay across the San Joaquin
valley to over the region of Lake Tahoe and west central NV.

Northern US:

A few fires near Billings MT and south of Miles City MT are producing
short plumes that extend ESE but stay within the state.


Western US:

There was an area of faint and dissipating smoke over southeast Wyoming
and extreme northern Colorado that extended into extreme western Nebraska
and southwestern South Dakota.
