DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0240Z October 30, 2006


California:
Several fires in western Siskiyou county are producing moderately
dense plumes of westerly smoke which crosses the whole Modoc county of
California from the west to the east. Another fire in eastern Siskiyou
county is producing a thin plume of easterly smoke. A fire ring in
Butte, Colusa, Yuba, Butter, and Yolo counties of central California are
producing moderately dense plume s of northward smoke which has covered
the central boundary of these counties. Two fires in Tuolumne and Madera
counties of central California are producing thin plumes of northeasterly
smoke. A fire in San Diego county of Southern California is producing
a moderately plume of easterly smoke which has reached east of Salton Sea.

Oregon:
Four fires in Lake and Marney counties of southern Oregon are producing
thin to moderately dense plumes of easterly smoke.

British Columbia:
Several fires in central British Columbia of Canada are producing
moderately dense plumes of smoke that are moving to the south.

Idaho:
A fire in Butte county is producing a moderately plume of easterly smoke.

North Dakota and Minnesota:
Many agricultural fires in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota are
producing thin to moderately dense plumes of smoke moving to the north.

Arkansas:
A fire in Grant county is producing a puff of moderately dense plume of
smoke moving to the northeast.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.

  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
