THROUGH 0300Z November 13, 2006

Louisiana:
Clusters of fires detected across the south central portion of Louisiana
were responsible for relatively small patches of mainly thin smoke which
generally spread in a westward direction.

Arizona:
A couple of fires in southern Apache County of eastern Arizona were
emitting thin to moderately dense smoke plumes which began to move more
in a southerly direction during the late afternoon after moving eastward
earlier in the day.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
