DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0245Z December 7, 2006


Lower Mississippi Valley:
Several fires in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama are
producing light smoke plumes that are moving to the north northeast.

Arizona:
A fire located in central Yavapai county is producing a plume of light
to moderately dense smoke that is seen moving off to the the south west.

California:
In Mono county of east-central California there is a fire producing a
narrow but moderately dense plume of smoke that is moving to the north
northeast and reaching Nevada.  Also there is a fire further west located
on the border of Napa and Lake counties that is producing a quick plume
of moderatley dense smoke that is moving to the northwest.

Oregon:
In northern Curry county, of southwest Oregon, there is a fire located
on the coast that is producing a light, yet lengthy plume of smoke that
extends to the north along the coast before it begins to drift to the
east due to the winds.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
