DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2300Z December 14, 2006

Arkansas:
A fire along the southern Scott county Arkansas/Le Flore county Oklahoma
border is producing a smoke plume of thin density extending to the east
across Scott county.

Louisiana:
Two narrow. thin smoke plumes were seen extending east from fires in
central Vernon parish and south central Natchitoches. The plumes were
confined to their respective parishes.

California/Baja:
A blaze over south central Ventura county produced a small area of thin
smoke that generally drifted to the east. Several fires in the Colorado
river basin along the Baja California/Sonora border were producing a
couple of plumes of thin smoke that were moving to the south-southwest
and reaching the northwest corner of the Gulf of California.

  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
