DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2315Z January 3, 2007

Louisiana/Texas:
A thin to moderately dense smoke plume was detected moving to the
south-southwest across the Louisiana-Texas border from a fire located in
Vernon Parish of west central Louisiana. A thinner and slightly smaller
smoke plume was also moving to the south-southwest from a fire in Polk
County of eastern Texas.

Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.

Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.

A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.

Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
