THROUGH 0045Z January 22, 2007
California/Arizona: A fire in Monterey County generated a narrow smoke plume that extended nearly 100 km (54 nmi) to the southwest. High winds have resulted in blowing dust across southern California, the lower Sacramento Valley, and southwest Arizona, especially the counties of San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara in California as well as Yuma County, Arizona. Dust was also apparent across a large portion of northern Baja, Mexico.
