DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0150Z February 14, 2007

Southern Texas:
A bunch of fires in southern Texas including Atascosa, Victoria, Calhoun,
Matagorda, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, and Brooks counties (two fires located
in Matagorda Island and San Jose Island) are producing thin to moderately
dense plumes of smoe that are moving to the south.

Florida:
A fire in western Broward county is producing a moderately dense plume
of smoke that is moving northeastward across Palm Beach county into the
Pacific at city of West Palm Beach.

Cuba:
A fire in Cuba is producing a thin plume of smoke that is moving to
the northeast.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
