DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z March 29, 2007

South Carolina:
Many fires throughout central and eastern SC are producing light plumes
of smoke that are moving in a north northeast direction.

Georgia/Florida:
Numerous fires throughout southwest Georgia and northern Florida are
producing a range of light to moderately dense smoke. The majority of
smoke is being produced by the cluster of fires found on the border of
Thomas county, GA and Thomas county, FL. The smoke from these fires is
moving to the northwest.

On the border of Bryan and Liberty counties of eastern Georgia there
is a fire producing a moderately dense to dense plume of smoke that is
spreading to the northwest.

Along Florida's Gulf Coast there are multiple fires producing a lengthy
amount of light smoke that is moving out over the water and north into
the panhandle.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
