THROUGH 1645Z April 27, 2007

Gulf of Mexico
There is an area of mostly stationary light to moderate smoke and haze
in eastern Tamaulipas and northeastern Veracruz. The smoke and haze
extends offshore in some locations reaching up to 130 miles from shore.
In addition there is an area of light smoke and haze along a frontal
boundary extending from about 25N 94W to about 29N 84W.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
