DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1632Z May 03, 2007

Southeast:

The intense blaze in Atkinson County, Georgia is pruducing a thick plume
which is moving south-southeast to Columbia and southeast Baker county in
Florida.  Some additional smoke is being  emitted by the Ware County Fire.
A plume from a smaller fire in extreme southern Flagler county Florida is
moving south into  Volusia county.   Widespread dispersed smoke covers
much of northeast Florida, southeast Georgia and South Carolina and
exteme southeast North Carolina.

Elsewhere significant areas of smoke are not observed.

  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
