DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1530Z May 14, 2007

Central Plains/ Upper Mississippi Valley:

Dispersed smoke from the fire on the Minnesota Ontario border can be
seen from northeast Kansas/southeast Nebraska northeastward though Iowa
into Wisconsin.

Southeast:
Dispersed smoke covers much of the northeast quarter of the Gulf of Mexico
except the northeast corner.  This smoke continues east southeastward
across the southern half of Florida into the Bahamas. A smoke plume from
the actual fire is not visible yet at this hour.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
