DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1615Z May 26, 2007

Georgia and Alabama:
An area of moderate smoke from the fire in Bugaboo and Turnaround of
SE Georgia has extended from the fire to the northwest and has covered
almost all the Alabama and west 1/3 of Georgia. The most dense portion
of the smoke is near the fire point.

SE Canada:
The large fire in SW Quebec continued to produce a plume of heavy smoke
that moved to the east and the thick smoke has now covered eastern half
of New Brunswick of Canada. A large area of thin smoke with haze has
covered Nova Scotia of Canada and the Atlantic.

Alaska:
The residual smoke from fires in central Yukon-Koyukuk and southern
Fairbanks North Star Counties is now wandering in northern Alaska.

  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
