DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1730Z July 23, 2007

Northwest United States/Alberta/Saskatchewan/Northern Plains:
The wildfires burning mostly in Idaho, northeastern Nevada and northern
Utah caused moderate and very dense smoke that extended northward
over Montana to Alberta and southern Saskatchewan then eastward to
southern Manitoba before turning southward over the Northern Plains to
S Nebraska. A band of thin residual smoke stretched from Illinois to
SE Ontario.

Central and Southeast Canada:
Wildfires in northern Saskatchewan and northern Manitoba caused moderate
and dense smoke that stretched eastward across northern Ontario/southern
Hudson Bay. Thinner smoke extended eastward across Quebec, the Gulf of
St. Lawrence and southern Newfoundland.
