DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600 UTC August 3, 2007


All US except Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico,
Colorado, Wisconsin, and southern and cetnral Utah/southern Alberta
and Saskatechwan:
The large area stated in the title are all covered by thin to moderately
densep smoke from the inumerous large fires in Idaho, Montana and southern
British Columbia.

Oregon:
A big fire in Jefferson county is producing a moderately desne plume of
smoke that is moving westerly into western Gillianm and Wheeler counties.

California:
The fire in Santa Barbara is still produing a thin to moderately dense
plume of smoke that is moving southerly into the Pacific.

Michigan:
A fire in central Luce county of Michigan is producing a moderately dense
to locally dense plume of smoke that is moving southeasterly across
the intersection between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron into norhtern
lower Michigan.

Northwestern Territories/Saskatchewan/Manitoba:
The fires in northern Saskatchewan and southern Northwestern Territories
are still producing locally dense plumes of smokt that are moving
soueasterly into cetnral Manitoba.

  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
