DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z September 30, 2007
North Carolina:
A fire burning for the last few days on the Rutherford and Burke county
border continues to produce a light plumes of smoke. The smoke is moving
west into the counties of McDowell and Buncombe.
There are no other significant areas of smoke seen in satellite imagery
through 30/1600z.

- Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
- Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
- A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
- Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
