DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z OCTOBER 06, 2007

US/Canada:
No significant smoke was seen today due mostly to cloud cover. Although
there was some minor smoke producing fires seen across the US.

California:
A fire on the border of Sacramento and Solano counties produced a light
plume of smoke south into Contra Costa and San Joaquin counties in
central California.

Texas:
Multiple fires burning in the counties of Castro, Hutchinson, Hansford
and Ochiltree produced mostly light smoke plumes moving towards the north.

Nebraska:
A fire in Franklin county produced a long narrow smoke plume that moved
north into Phelps, Kearney and Buffalo counties.

  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
