THROUGH 1615Z OCTOBER 28, 2007

Southern California Fires:

A narrow smoke plume can still be seen eminating from a fire near Mt
Palomar in northern San Diego County. A band of disperse smoke from the
California fires is visible about 120-140 west of the California coast.

Central Plains

Dispersed mixed smoke and clouds is seen over eastern Colorado and much
of Kansas and northern Oklahoma.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
