DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1730Z November 23, 2007
Washington/Oregon:
A fire in Pacific county in southwest Washington state is producing
a narrow plume of smoke moving west and extending about 60 km off the
coast into the Pacific Ocean.
A fire in southeast Coos county in southwest Oregon is emitting a light
plume of smoke towards the northwest.

- Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
- Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
- A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
- Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
