DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z November 26, 2007

California:
A narrow plume of light smoke was detected from a fire near Yosemite
West near the western border of Yosemite National Park. The plume
extended to the south-southeast about 15 km just reaching the border
with Madera county.

Residual light smoke from the fire in Malibu in southern California was
seen drifting to the west-southwest over the open Pacific Ocean just
west of the Channel Islands

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
