DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0030Z December 03, 2007

Texas:

Light smoke raced 215 km south of a fire in Archer County.

Hawaii:

Fires ignited along the terminus of the flow from the Pu'u 'O'o vent of
Kilauea Volcano in the vicinity of the Kahauale'a Natural Area Reserve
have resulted in a light smoke plume that has backed over the course of
the daylight hours and extended 25 km to the northeast at 0030Z.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
