DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1615Z March 26, 2008

Southeast:
A few small morning agricultural fires are producing small plumes of
moderately dense smoke in Georgia and South Carolina that are moving
toward the west.

Residual smoke/haze from the numerous fire in the southeast last night
is coving Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and southern Virginia
and is slowly moving east out over the Atlantic.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
