DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0130Z, March 29, 2008

Florida:
In Breverd County, along the central, Atlantic side of the state, a
moderately dense smoke plume was observed moving northeast, extended 50
miles from the source, and was moving out over the Atlantic Ocean.

Nebraska:
In the southeastern region, several agricultural fires have been spotted
and were producing very light smoke plumes. These plumes were seen moving
northwest and extended 25-30 miles from their sources.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
