DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0145Z April 10, 2008

South Carolina:
Along the border of Berkeley and Charleston Counties, a light smoke
plume was observed moving south out over the Atlantic Ocean. The plume
extended out 40 miles from the source.

Florida:
In central Citrus County, a light smoke plume was seen by the analyst
moving west over the Gulf of Mexico, and extended out 60 miles from
the source.

  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
