DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0130Z April 13, 2008

Southeast Texas/Southwest Louisiana:
A fire burning in northwest Montgomery county is producing a light plume
of smoke south SE into Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria counties and into
the Gulf of Mexico.  The plume extends 170-180 km from source.
In Jefferson county a fire is emitting light smoke southeast into the
Gulf of Mexico.
In southeast Houston county light to moderately dense smoke from a fire
is moving southeast into Trinity, Angelina, Tyler and Polk counties. Smoke
extends 135-145 km from source.
In Sabine county a fire is producing light to moderately dense smoke
moving southeast into Newton county Texas and Vernon county Louisiana.
In northwest Jasper county a fire is producing light to moderately dense
smoke moving southeast into Newton county and Beauregard and Calcasieu
counties in Louisiana.

California:
A large fire in northeast Monterey county is emitting moderately dense
smoke north to NNE into Santa Clara, San Benito, Santa Cruz, Merced and
Stanislaus counties.  Other fires burning across the state are in the
counties of Mariposa, two in Mendocino and one in Tehama.  The fires in
Mendocino county are burning in the Coastal Ranges.
