DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

North Carolina/US East Coast: Moderately dense to dense smoke from the Evans Road fire extends toward the north-northeast over 150 km merging with the smoke being emitted from the South 1 fire. The smoke from both the fires then continues to the north covering the northeastern seaboard through Massachusetts. Southeast US: An area of haze can be seen off the east coast stretching from the South Carolina shore as far south as Grand Bahama Island. This area was apparent earlier in the day and was staying offshore but now appears to be moving west coming close the the east coast of Florida. This area of haze is believed to be the remnants of the South 1 and Evans Road fires. California: The Indians Fire in Monterey County continues to produce moderately dense to dense smoke which extends to the north passing through Santa Clara county and into Alameda county. The Whiskey fire in southwestern Tehama county is generating moderately dense to dense smoke which is traveling to the northeast into Shasta county. There is light smoke from both the Indians and Whiskey fires which extends from southern Kings county CA north into Klamath county and passes through Elko county Nevada to reach as far northeast as Owyhee county Idaho. The counties of Washoe, Humbolt and Pershing have an area of particularly dense smoke over them as of 0000Z. Colorado: The Bridger Fire in Las Animas county is emanating moderately dense to dense smoke which is fanning out to the north through Prowers, Bent, Otero, Pueblo and Huerfano counties. There are reports the fire has burned over 42,000 acres. Oregon: A few fires on the west coast of Oregon in Coos and Douglas counties are producing light to moderately dense smoke which is drifting to the southwest off the coast. Another small fire in southern Grant county is emitting light to moderately dense smoke which is moving to the east. Alaska: A fire in Fairbanks North county is emanating light to moderately dense smoke which extends over 60km to the south. Canada: Fires in northern Saskatchewan are producing moderately dense to dense smoke which is traveling to the southwest approaching the Alberta border. -Salemi
