DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1615Z JULY 4, 2008

North Carolina/Virginia:
Smoke plumes seen coming from fires along North Carolina/SOuthern Virginia
coast with remnant smoke extending offshore northeastward parallel to
the cold front.

Western/Southwestern US:
While clouds are making smoke detection harder, early moring vis shows
smoke covermuch of the western and southwestern states.  A mod/heavy
plume seen early moving through Central California and into Northwest
Nevada appears to be coming from the Silver Complex fire.

Northern US/Canada:
Moderate smoke from large fires in Saskatchewan/Manitoba seen extending
through the Northern Plains and into the Midwest/Great Lakes region and
lighter remnant smoke southward through Texas.
