THROUGH 1500Z SEPTEMBER 30, 2008

California/Arizona:
A fire on the border of Mohave County Arizona and San Bernardino County
California is generating light to moderately dense smoke which is
traveling north along the CA/AZ border. On the west coast of Monterey
County a large fire is emitting moderately dense smoke that is fanning
out to the north covering most of the northern portion of the county.
In northern California light smoke from a fire in eastern Del Morte
County is moving north entering into Oregon.

Idaho:
An area of haze can be seen through the center part of the state.
This smoke is likely remnants from the previous nights fires as well as
smoke from a fire in the southern region of Twin Falls County.

Unless otherwise indicated:
  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
