DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z NOVEMBER 27, 2008

Oklahoma:
In the eastern region of the state, a few agricultural burns produced
light smoke plumes earlier this evening in and around Pittsburg
County. These plumes were moving to the northeast and extended out
10-15km from their sources.

Florida:
Agricultural burns produced several light smoke plumes earlier this
afternoon just south of Lake Okeechobee in Palm Beach County. These
plumes extended to the southeast 20-30km from their sources.

Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.

Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.

A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.

Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
