DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0045Z DECEMBER 24, 2008

Florida:
A light smoke plume in Charlotte County was observed moving to the west
earlier this afternoon and over the Gulf of Mexico. The plume extended
150km from the source. A light to moderately dense smoke plume in Collier
County was seen moving to the west later this afternoon as well, moving
over the Gulf of Mexico. This plume extended out 125km from the source.

Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.

A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.

Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
