DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z MAY 7, 2009
California: In Santa Barbara County, a heavy smoke plume from the wildfire there is currently moving to the south over the Pacific Ocean, and also extending over Ventura and Los Angeles counties. Nevada: Blowing dust originating over Churchill County is quickly moving to the east and extends out 350km. Gulf of Mexico/Texas: Light smoke/haze from burning in Central America is creeping northward, is currently situated over the western area of the Gulf of Mexico, and also extends into southeastern Texas. There is also some light haze situated over the panhandle of Texas as well, moving to the north. EVANS THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
