DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1500Z June 8, 2009
Western Canada/Alaska: Residual smoke from a large fire burning in the Yukon of northwestern Canada and from another very large fire complex in northern British Columbia was covered eastern Alaska and much of Yukon. Southwestern Canada/Washington: A detached area of residual smoke from the large fire in southwestern British Columbia covered central Oregon and a small portion of southwest Idaho. More information on additional smoke plumes associated with these fires and others can be find at the locations listed below. THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
