DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z June 14, 2009
Central Canada and northern US: Earlier Today: Remnant thin smoke from fires burning across northern Canada covers eastern and central portions of Alberta, most of Saskatchewan, extreme SW Manitoba, NE Montana, most of North Dakota, northern/central sections of Minnesota and NW Wisconsin. This smoke continues to move in ESE directions across parts of S Canada and N US. Currently an area of moderately dense to dense smoke is moving ESE across E central Saskatchewan and into central Manitoba just north of Lake Winnipeg. The smoke is surrounded by pockets of light smoke. This smoke is part of the large area of smoke moving across S Canada and N US. Arizona/New Mexico: Two fires burning in SE Coconino county are producing light to moderately dense smoke moving NE across the county. Also, two other fires are burning in the central section of the county emitting small light to moderately dense plumes. The smoke is moving towards the NE In the county of Catron, in New Mexico, a fire is producing moderately dense smoke NE across the county. Other fires are burning across the state, but smoke is not seen due to clouds.
