DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Ohio River Valley: A thin band of SO2 stretches east across northern Missouri, southern Illinois, and southern Indiana. This plume is 75-100km wide. Washington State/British Columbia/Alberta/Montana: A band of SO2 stretches north from Washington into southwest British Columbia, northern Montana, and southern Alberta. Alberta/Saskatchewan: In the northern provinces, light haze, possibly mixed with SO2, is drifting to the east. Alaska: Light smoke is drifting to the north in the northeastern region of the state. Also, a band of SO2 around 155W is slowly drifting to the east. EVANS More information on the areas of smoke described above as well as others can be found at the locations listed below. THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
