DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1535Z July 27, 2009
Alaska/Canada: Although numerous wildfires are still burning throughout central Alaska, smoke cannot be been due to extensive cloud cover. However, residual light smoke from these fires can be seen throughout Canada. More specifically, into the Northwest Territories, stretching south into Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. British Columbia/Washington State: Light to moderately dense smoke plumes in BC, some of which are residual smoke plumes from yesterday, are currently moving south and extend 500km from the sources into central Washington State. California: Residual smoke from a wildfire in the central region of the state, roughly 200km east of the San Francisco metro area, is currently moving to the south and extends out 100km. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
