DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0215Z August 12, 2009
California/Oregon/Nevada/northern Utah/Idaho: Heavy smoke from the La Brea fire was moving northeast across north central California and mixing in with moderate smoke from the Shu Lightning and other fires across northern California. Great Lakes/Northern Plains/Northern Rockies: These California fires were responsible for light smoke that extended northeast from northern California across portions of the northern Rockies and northern Plains into southern Canada. More information on the areas of smoke described above as well as others can be found at the locations listed below. THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
