DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z August 21, 2009
Southwestern Canada: Numerous wildfires are still producing smoke, however, due to extensive cloud cover, only some residual smoke from last evening's fires can be seen. The light to moderately dense smoke extends to the northeast through southern British Columbia and western Alberta. Northern Rockies: A band of residual light smoke, presumably from last evening's fire in central Nevada, is now situated over northern Nevada, central Idaho, and western Montana. This band of smoke is moving to the east. EVANS More information on the areas of smoke described above as well as others can be found at the locations listed below. THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
