DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1730Z September 22, 2009
Pacific Northwest: A batch of moderately dense to dense smoke can be seen in this morning's visible satellite imagery over the Pacific Northwest from active wildfires in the Cascade range of western Oregon. The thicker smoke extended northwestward from southwest Oregon to the northwest corner of the state, into extreme southwest Washington, and approximately 140 miles out over the offshore waters. Thin smoke extended even further to the northwest across the coastal Pacific waters and as far north as Seattle, WA. -Sheffler More information on the areas of smoke described above as well as others can be found at the locations listed below. THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED. IT WILL NO LONGER DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS PLUMES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES.
