DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Central Plains/Mississippi Valley: A large area of smoke extends from northeast Iowa/eastern Nebraska south across the Mississippi Valley/Plains to central Louisiana. There are three area of moderately dense smoke. The first area extends from southeastern Kansas N into northwest Missouri/southwest Iowa. Another area of moderately dense smoke stretches from north central Missouri S into central Arkansas. The third area stretches from central Iowa into eastern Missouri/eastern Illinois and S into northeast Arkansas. There are pockets of dense smoke coming from individual smoke plumes within the area of light to moderately dense. Earlier Today: Central Plains/Mississippi Valley: An area of mostly light to moderately dense smoke (small area of dense smoke) is moving east from the Central Plains into the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley. The heaviest of this smoke extends across central Missouri (north to south) south into central Arkansas and into northern Louisiana. A small strip of dense smoke extends from central Missouri into northern Arkansas. Light smoke extends west of the moderately dense smoke across the eastern sections of the Central Plains into western sections of the Mississippi Valley.
