DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1745Z October 16, 2010
Gulf of Mexico: This mornings satellite imagery indicated an area of aerosol covered a large portion of the northern and western portions of the Gulf of Mexico. It is likely that at least a portion of this aerosol is remnant smoke from the large number of agricultural fires that have occurred over the last several weeks over the lower Mississippi Valley. Western Great Lake States: An area of aerosol was detected around sunrise over the western Great Lake States of Wisconsin/Michigan/N Illinois. It's possible that this area of aerosol may contain some remnant smoke from persistent agricultural fires over South Central Canada. Hanna THE FORMAT OF THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS BEING MODIFIED.
