DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2245Z November 30, 2010

No significant area of detached smoke/dust were observed in the United
States in this evening's satellite imagery.

State of Sonora, Mexico
An area of blowing dust/sand was observed along the southwestern coast
of Sonora. The plume moved to the southeast over the Gulf of California
and entered Sinaloa by sunset.   This plume was moving away from the
United States.

State of Baja California Sur, Mexico
Numerous dust/sand plumes were observed in northern Baja California Sur
this evening.  The plumes moved to the southwest into the Pacific Ocean
and were moving away from the United States.

State of Baja California
An area of blowing dust/sand was viewed in this evening's satellite
imagery in southern Baja California.   The plume carried dust/sand to
the southwest and over the open waters of the Pacific Ocean.

SOURCE FIRE, TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. IT WILL ALSO
STILL INCLUDE DESCRIPTIONS OF BLOWING DUST. THE SMOKE TEXT PRODUCT IN
GENERAL SHOULD BE SENT TO SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov

  • Areas of smoke are analyzed using GOES-EAST and GOES-WEST Visible satellite imagery.
  • Only a general description of areas of smoke or significant smoke plumes will be analyzed.
  • A quantitative assessment of the density/amount of particulate or the vertical distribution is not included.
  • Widespread cloudiness may prevent the detection of smoke even from significant fires.
