THROUGH 1645Z July 15, 2011
Northwestern US/Western Canada: Thin area of light aerosols from Oregon northeastward through central Saskatchewan that is likely remnant smoke from fires in the western US last evening. Central US: Area of light smoke with haze mixed in as well from southern Texas to western Tennessee and Iowa as well as eastern Kansas/Oklahoma. The smoke is likely remnant from various fires in the southeast US, New Mexico, as well as agricultural fires in Kansas/Oklahoma last evening. Canada: Wildfires in Ontario/Manitoba are still producing large amounts of smoke this morning with dense smoke still covering much of northern Ontario. Clouds are somewhat hindering the smoke detection thus likely producing an underestimation of the smoke's extent. Another thin area of smoke from over the northern provinces of Canada likely from fires over northern Alberta. Liddick From Previous Discussion: Canada: Remnant light to moderate smoke lingers along the borders of Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba/Northwest Territories/Nunavut provinces Wildfires in north-Central Alberta likely from wildfires still burning in northern Alberta. Another smaller area moving over southern Hudson Bay from fires in Manitoba/Ontario which are still producing moderate/heavy dense smoke over central Ontario as well.
