Eastern Northwest Territories: An area of remnant smoke mixed with some new smoke from the fires that continue to burn through the eastern/central portions of the Northwest Territories can be seen in this morning's visible satellite imagery. The more moderately dense areas of the smoke can be seen just to the south and east of Great Bear Lake. Southern Ontario/Northern Great Plains: An elongated area of light smoke mixed with some moderately dense smoke can be seen stretching from near the Dakota's border along the Minnesota/Canadian border and then just to the north of eastern Lake Superior. This smoke continues to be from the fires that are burning through portions of western Ontario. Heavy, dense smoke can be seen around the largest fire which is located in the Woodland Caribou Provincial Park in extreme western Ontario. Central/Eastern Iowa: An area of what is believed to be light smoke could be seen moving eastward through central and eastern Iowa this morning and early afternoon. With the numerous fires that have been seen recently in the western U.S. as well as the wildfires that continue to burn through Ontario, it is believed that this area of smoke could be from any of these source points and at this time, the exact origin can not be determined.
