DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Canada/Northern and Central US Plains: The smoke area discussed in the previous message is still seen this evening. This is an area of remnant smoke from the past few days due to fires in Montana/Idaho/Wyoming that has become lofted. The smoke is being deflected to the north and south by a large cyclonic circulation over northern Illinois so that the smoke area is becoming stretched out from northeast Manitoba along the western shore of Hudson Bay south southwestward across southwest Manitoba, western North and South Dakota and into western Nebraska and Kansas. The smoke is mainly light with a moderately dense area over central and northern Manitoba. Utah: An area of blowing dust was seen late this afternoon and evening over eastern Millard county in central Utah. The dust was drifting slowly to the southeast. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
